Makerere University/UVRI Centre of Excellence in Infection & Immunity Research and Training (MUII-plus) contributed to building of global research capacity through facilitating equipment worth over 200 million Uganda shillings to the Department of Mathematics at Makerere University to help in computational biology and bioinformatics studies.
While officially handing over the IMac Computers and a 60KVA Perkins engine generator to Prof. Joseph Mugisha, the Principal of the College of Natural Sciences, MUII Plus Director Prof. Alison Elliott pledged MUII’s continued support to develop the best Ugandan Scientists into health research leaders.
The Head of Department, Dr. David Ssevviiri was so grateful for the equipment as well as the steadily growing partnership between UVRI and Makerere University. He stressed that these would be maintained and put to good use so as to help young scientists advance on their research skills with computational models.
