Addressing during the UVRI end of year party that took place on 19th.December,2018, at the Uganda Virus Research Institute, Prof. Pontiano Kaleebu the UVRI Director, recognized MUII Plus for the excellent performance and contribution towards institute among which are the scientific publications and capacity building through the internship program. MUII Plus centre Director,Prof. Alison Elliot, recognized the interns at the institute and appreciated their contribution towards MUII and UVRI at large.
Impressed by the highlighted achievements and success especially the institute’s recent discovery of a new strain of hepatitis C , Dr. Diana Atwine,the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health said, “..the scientific success at UVRI can surely be a cornerstone for not only the success in publications but also for scientific policies…” She emphasized that UVRI shares her scientific success locally and internationally and also advised that UVRI designs a proposal on infrastructure to Ministry of health for financial aid because the work UVRI is doing is greatly for the country’s benefit.
Prof. Pontiano Kaleebu praised the UVRI staff for their tremendous contributions and thanked the institute’s partners for their support.
